Christmas Extravaganza 200710th November 2007
As
the words ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’ sang out at Bredfield Village Hall
on Saturday 10th November 2007, indeed he did, arriving in great style on
his tinsel bedecked pony and trap. Delighted children were then treated to a
visit to see him in his magical, twinkling grotto. The festive magic had
been sprinkled over the hall to include stylish decorations and even an
extension to the building onto the playing field (in the form of a marquee).
From the wonderful range of stalls we were tempted to buy many of our Christmas
needs, including unique decorations, cards, candles, wrapping paper, gifts of
jewellery, pashminas, preserves, cushions, cakes, cookware, toys or plants to
name but a few. Visitors could browse or buy, or take part in activities such as
the tombola, competitions or the draw. Children could have their faces painted
or try the lucky dip, or the absorbing children’s activity table. Meanwhile,
no one needed to go hungry or thirsty. There were coffee and mince pies,
homemade soup and filled rolls with mulled wine and later, sumptuous teas. Who would guess that a
small village could house so much talent? Thank you to all those who worked so hard before, during and after what was truly an Extravaganza; you made it such a success. We raised over £1600 to be shared between East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH) and Bredfield St. Andrew’s Church. Thanks to everyone who supported us on the day. Many photographs were taken at the Extravaganza - you can view them in the file held at the Village Shop, where you may also
order prints. All money will go to St Andrew's
